Apple MacBook Pro 16 inches is affected by a Hingegate issue. Honestly, the problem is as bad as Bendgate and Chipgate issues on old iPhones. I own a MacBook Pro 16, and it cost me CAD 3,840.87. I do not use my MacBook with an open screen all the time. Mostly, it is closed at attached to my Lg 34wk650 ultrawide monitor.
What is Hingegate? How did I realize the issue?
A hingegate problem causes the hinges on your MacBook Pro 16 to loosen. If you angle your laptop screen up to 90 degrees plus, the hinge is not going to keep your laptop’s screen from falling back. It spoils the whole experience of using your laptop.
As I was not using the inbuilt laptop screen too much, I realized this issue existed only after one and half months. Strange enough, the laptop lid would fall back every 3-4 minutes. I had to go back to the Apple store to check on the display units. Weak hinges or Hingegate issues did not affect the display units.
Booking an appointment with an Apple Genius bar can take time, but it is easy. My experience was not too good. While inspecting my device Apple Genius bar scrapped off the bottom case with so many scratched. Even after tightening the hinges, they couldn’t fix the problem.
The Best Part:
- Apple fixed the scratched parts at no cost.
- The service was quick.
- They returned my laptop in 3 days.
- As a preventative measure, Apple replaced my top lid, bottom case, and palm case.
Hingegate issue – Did the Apple Genius bar fix it?
Sadly, the repair did not fix the issue for me. What did Apple say the next time I met them? According to Apple, the hinges go loose only after several months/years of laptop use. I say it, laptop abuse. Honestly, if you use your laptop well, you do not see these issues/
